With
reggaeton running through their veins, they are the first
signed act in the Netherlands:
Three guys, one girl. Born in the Dominican Republic. They
brought their music to the Netherlands and went on without
any doubt where they left of at their home country. Reggaeton
may be hype; Ghetto Flow eats, sleeps and breathes this music.
For years.
BIOGRAPHY:
GHETTO FLOW
The
musical motor running this group is MB. His grandfather gave
him a record in his small fists just half an hour after he
was born in 1983. That he was made for music was very clear
from that point. He was busy with reggaeton on Dominican soil
in 1997. That year he went to Curaçao, where he did
his first steps on stage with his own group Los Terricolas.
The new millennium was coming and MB decided to go to the
Netherlands. Over there he could not find anyone producing
beats. So when nobody else does it...
And
so it happened. In 2001 he met the same spirit of Johan and
together they made beats and tracks with the name Light Clan.
During a game of pool they met the lady from the quartet,
La Baby. After talking a little they found out they had the
same passion for reggaeton, and it didn’t take long
before duo Light Clan became a trio.
La
Baby, born in ’85, was a great reggaeton lover from
the age of twelve. She gave shows at the schoolyard by singing
tracks of her hero Ivy Queen. Three years after that her mum
put her on the plane to a better future. La Baby would not
be La Bay if she wouldn’t make the best of that. Don’t
be put of with her name or her sweet looks: La Baby used to
be the manger of the group and made quite a reputation. What
she thinks? First the small fish will bite, then the bigger....
There
was one more person needed to close the gate making the group
Ghetto Flow. This time it happened during a basketball game:
MB spoke the brother of member number four Conejo, who for
a while was looking for a place where he could put his golden
eggs. From his eleventh he writes and raps, and during his
years on Saint Maarten he had a group called La Ciencia. Meanwhile
he owns three languages with writing his songs. He is young:
born in ’87, but you cannot fool him.
Ghetto
Flow worked together with others in remixes, features and
productions with successful groups like K-Liber, Gerald y
la Ritmica (salsa), BS-One and Romy Rick of Fruta Nueva. They
mix their base (reggaeton) with diverse other styles like
salsa, merengue, bachata, dancehall and hiphop and also their
lyrics are very diverse.
Tineke
Timmerman, one of the founders of the new company inTown,
made contact with La Baby through her website: reggaeton-music.nl.
The passion and motivation that La Baby was showing while
talking about reggaeton and her group was the match they made,
even though La Baby did not have a clue that Tineke was working
in the music industry. inTown signed Ghetto Flow very recently
as being the first act and will be the management, agent and
label for the group.
In
2006 a record will be released and a tour will start. Not
just focussing on the Netherlands, because this group prooved
to be capable of extending the borders!

Ghetto
Flow: met reggaeton in hun bloed zijn zij na acht jaar muziek
maken meest spannende reggaeton formatie in Nederland.
Drie
gasten, één meisje. Allen geboren in de Dominicaanse
Republiek. Ze brachten de muziek mee naar Nederland en zijn
hier onvermoeibaar verder gegaan met waar ze in hun vaderland
en elders al lang en breed in bedreven waren. Reggaeton mag
nu een hype zijn, Ghetto Flow eet, slaapt en ademt deze muziek.
Al jaren.
De
motor waar de groep muzikaal op draait, is MB. Zijn opa duwde
hem een plaat in de knuistjes nog geen half uur nadat hij
in 1983 het licht had gezien, dus dat hij de muziek in zou
gaan, was vanaf dat punt redelijk onvermijdelijk. Op Dominicaanse
bodem was hij al met reggaeton bezig, in 1997. Het jaar daarop
vertrok hij naar Curaçao, alwaar hij zijn eerste schreden
op het podium maakte met zijn eigen groep Los Terricolas.
Het nieuwe millennium stond voor de deur en MB besloot naar
Nederland te gaan. Daar aangekomen trof hij niemand die beats
kon maken. En als niemand anders het voor je doet...
En
zo geschiede. In 2001 ontmoet hij de gelijkgestemde geest
van Johan en samen maken ze beats en tracks onder de naam
Light Clan. Tijdens een potje pool ontmoet MB de dame uit
het kwartet, La Baby. Na wat koetjes en kalfjes komen ze erachter
dat ze de passie voor reggaeton delen, en het duurt niet lang
voordat het duo Light Clan een trio wordt.
La
Baby, geboren in ’85, is al vanaf haar twaalfde een
groot liefhebber van reggaeton. Op het schoolplein geeft ze
shows weg door nummers van haar heldin Ivy Queen te zingen.
Drie jaar later wordt ze door mams op het vliegtuig gezet
naar een kansvollere toekomst. La Baby zou La Baby niet zijn
als ze daar niet het meest uit zou halen dat erin zit. Laat
je niet in de luren leggen door de naam en de verschijning:
La Baby was tot voor kort ook manager van de groep en heeft
de afgelopen jaren in die hoedanigheid een aardige staat van
dienst opgebouwd. Haar idee? Eerst de kleine visjes happen,
dan de grote...
Met
dat hek van de dam was er nog maar één groepslid
dat toegevoegd moest worden om tot de dampende stoofpot te
komen die Ghetto Flow heet. Het gebeurde tijdens een robbertje
basketbal dit keer: MB sprak daar de broer van vierde lid
Conejo, die al een tijdje op zoek was naar een plek om zijn
gouden eieren kwijt te kunnen. Vanaf zijn elfde schrijft en
rapt hij, en tijdens zijn jaren op Sint Maarten, waar hij
twee jaar eerder heen verhuisde, had hij zijn eigen groep
La Ciencia. Inmiddels heeft hij drie talen tot zijn beschikking
bij het schrijven van zijn nummers. Hij is jong, geboren in
’87, maar hem maak je dus niks wijs.
Ghetto
Flow werkte al samen in remixes, features en producties met
onder andere K-liber, Gerald y la Ritmica (salsa), Basic One
en Romy Rick van Fruta Nueva. Ze mixen hun basis, reggaeton,
met allerlei andere stijlen; salsa, merengue, bachata, dancehall
en hiphop, en de inhoud van hun teksten is al even divers.
Tineke
Timmerman, één van de oprichters van inTown,
kwam in contact met La Baby via het gastenboek van reggaeton-music.nl.
Doorslaggevend waren de passie en de gedrevenheid waarmee
La Baby over reggaeton en haar groep sprak, zelfs zonder te
weten dat Tineke werkzaam was in de muziekindustrie. inTown
heeft Ghetto Flow recentelijk als eerste act getekend en zal
het management van de groep op zich nemen. Hou deze kids in
de gaten: zij spelen niet in op een hype en dat is te horen
aan de kwaliteit van de muziek en te zien aan de performance!

Flow:con el Reggaeton en su sangre, con mas de 8 años
haciendo Reggaeton
Tres jovenes y una joven, todos nacidos en la Republica Dominicana,
estos muchachos traieron a Holanda,la musica que llevan dentro
de su sangre y todavia se mantienen luchando, con lo que aprendieron
en su pais natal, el Reggaeton puede ser que ahora este muy
pegado, pero Ghetto Flow: come ,duerme y respira por esta
musica desde hace años.
El
motor musical del grupo es MB ya que es el que produce todos
los Beats(ritmos) y donde el es que se hacen las grabaciones,
su abuelo lo empujo hacer artista desde pequeño,regalandole
al nacer un LP de Yuri, cuando MB nisiquiera tenia media hora
de haver nacido en año 1983, el empezo haciendo Reggaeton
en Rep.Dom en 1997.
Despues
al siguiente año salio de la Rep.Dom rumbo a Curacao,
ahi es donde el hace su primero show en tarima con su grupo
llamado Los Terricolas. se acerca el nuevo milenio y MB decide
ir rumbo a Holanda, en Holanda le fue muy dificil encontrar
alguien que le hiciera los Beats(ritmos) de Reggaeton y si
nadie te lo hace.............
En
el año 2001 tiene la oportunidad de conecer a Johan
y juntos empiezan haciendo pistas de Reggaeton bajo el nombre
de Light Clan,mas adelante conoce a La Baby y se dan cuenta
que comparten la misma pasion por el Reggaeton,es ahi donde
entonces ya Light Clan no es mas un Duo pero si no un Trio.
La
Baby nacida en el 1985, es desde su 12 años una amante
del Reggaeton, en su escuela algunas veces en la pausa ,le
gustaba hacer show cantando canciones de su idola Ivi Queen,tres
años mas tarde su madre la pone en un avion rumbo a
Holanda en busca de un mejor futuro, La Baby no seria La Baby
si no sacara todo lo que lleva dentro,no te dejes llevar por
su nombre, por que La Baby, aparte de ser cantante hasta hace
muy poco tambien era la manager del grupo Ghetto Flow, era
la que se encargaba de todo y lo fue llevando a un mejor nivel,
su pensamiento: "primero hay que comerse el pez pequeño
y despues el grande "
Despues
de todo esto solo faltaba una persona para formarse el grupo
de Ghetto Flow, todo sucedio en un juego de baloncesto ,ahi
es donde MB pudo conocer el hermano de Conejo. el cuarto intergrante
del grupo, que desde hace mucho estaba buscando un lugar donde
dejar sus huevos de oros, desde su 11 años el escribe
y rapea, en el tiempo que vivio en St.Maarten tambien tenia
su propio grupo llamado La Ciencia, no solo canta en español,
pero si no tambien en Ingles,Holandes, Conejo nacio en el
1987 es un joven con mucho talento.

Flow han trabajo en remix ,featuring y producciones con otros
artistas como : K-liber, Gerald y la Ritmica (salsa), Basic-One,
Jay Kay, Willie Panama y Rommy Rick de Fruta Nueva
